The Sigma DS2 printer uses direct-to-card printing technology. It is available in two versions: the simplex version (single-sided printing) and the duplex version (two-sided printing). This printer is easy to use thanks to its intuitive dashboard. Indeed, this multifunction dashboard lets you see the printer status, update the firmware and contact the technical support. All of these functions can be done from your mobile device.
Indeed, the new Sigma Series ID card printers have been designed to integrate easily into cloud environments (Sigma Series (PDF)). Each model in this series is connectable to a mobile device. Since these printers are able to connect to the Cloud (and not only your computer), every stage of card production has been secured to ensure data protection. From boot-up to storing your data, these card printers will be protected against malware and viruses. Indeed, data sent between your software and printer is encrypted. In addition, data will not be stored in the printer once the card has been printed.
Also, the manufacturer Entrust has developed additional security features to protect your cards from tampering. As a result, Sigma Series printers can produce highly secure identity cards. For example, it is now possible to print a personalized translucent watermark on your cards (Luster Ribbon List (PDF)). This special feature makes counterfeiting almost impossible.
